iPhones: What’s the difference? First Edition

Apple—we’ve all heard of it, and some of us, if not most, have had at least one of their products. If you ask an Apple user, they usually have good things to say about it. But we’re here to discuss the more recent phones, phones 11–14, as well as the Pro, Plus, and Mini.

I phone 11/pro/pro max

Released on September 20th, 2019, the iPhone 11 started at $699 (which has since gone down), selling 159.2 million units. This model comes in six different finishes (black, green, yellow, purple, red, and white) and has an A13 bionic chip. It also comes with a 6.1-inch display, dual camera lenses, face ID, glass front and back, waterproof for 30 mins up to 2 meters, and a 17-hour video playback time. With the same release date as the 11, the Pro has a 5.8-inch display, a triple-lens camera, Face ID, glass front and back, waterproof for 30 mins up to 4 meters, and an 18-hour video playback time. Starting at $999, Apple released it in four finishes (midnight green, space gray, silver, and gold). Fun fact: When this model was released, midnight green was their newest finish.

To finish off the 11 series, we have the Pro Max, which has the same build as the Pro but with a 6.5-inch display, an A13 bionic chip, face ID, glass front and back, waterproof for 30 mins up to 4 meters, and a 20 hour playback time. Starting at $1099, it comes in the exact same finishes as the Pro. Your best bet would be with the iPhone 11, and you might be saying that it’s sold, but it still holds up well in 2023. On top of that, it’s more affordable now that it’s being resold on different sites such as Best Buy, Amazon, eBay, and Walmart. If and when you would like to get a newer model or you would like to dispose of one, Apple will take it with their trade-in policy. The trade-in policy accepts any phone, no matter the brand, and if it doesn’t qualify for trade-in, they recycle it for you.

iPhone 12/pro/pro max/mini

Released on October 13, 2020, the iPhone 12 started at $799 (dropped down on the Apple website to $599) and sold about 56 million to 62 million units. It comes in six different finishes (blue, purple, green, white, black, and red), a 6.1 display, emergency SOS, dual cameras, a 17-hour playback time, face ID, waterproof for 30 mins up to 6 meters, an A14 bionic chip, and a ceramic shield front. Next is the 12 pro, starting at $999 (which has dropped because of resale), Apple has sold over 100 million units across all of the 12s. The Pro comes in four different finishes (Pacific blue, gold, graphite, and silver), a 6.1 display, emergency SOS, triple lenses, a 17-hour video playback time, face ID, waterproof for 30 mins up to 6 meters, an A14 bionic chip, and a ceramic shield front.

Next is the 12 pro Max starting at 1,099 it has pretty much the same features the pro has but with a 6.7 display and 20-hour video playback time. Last but certainly not least is the 12 mini (my favorite) starting at $699 (cheaper because of resale prices) it comes with six finishes (blue, purple, green, white, black, and red), a 5.4 display, emergency SOS, dual cameras, 17 hour video playback time, Face ID, A14 bionic chip, and a ceramic shield front. If you’re the type of person who wants a more recent and affordable phone the 12 mini would be your best bet. It can be found in places like Walmart, Bestbuy, eBay, and Amazon.
